The Breakers Girls U16 White team finished up their regular season with a Championship win in the U16/U19 Division of the 2009 Cape Cod Waves Cranberry Classic Tournament. The Breakers Girls U16 White team finished up their regular season with a Championship win in the U16/U19 Division of the 2009 Cape Cod Waves Cranberry Classic Tournament. The girls picked the right time to play their best hockey of the season. They beat the Cape Cod Sharks, Team Belmont and Brewster (NY) Lady Bulldogs in the preliminary round of the tournament with aggressive team play, great defense and goaltending and plenty of scoring from every line.
They met up with Assabet White in the Semi Finals and earned a hard fought 4-2 victory to place them in the Championship game against a strong CT Polar Bears team.
The Championship game was a battle from the first drop of the puck. The game was scoreless at the end of the first period, and then early in the 2nd period Morgan Sharry broke the tie with a pretty top corner wrist shot. She also managed to break her wrist slamming into the boards on the same play and was out for the rest of the game. Hannah Murphy scored on a break a way in the first minute of the 3rd period and Mary Margaret Donavan scored late in the 3rd period to seal the victory.
