Gu12 Green - Polar Bears Champs 2010
Congratulations to the Bay State Breakers U12 Green girls who won the championship of the 25th Annual Connecticut Polar Bears Holiday Tournament for the U12AA DivisionCongratulations to the Bay State Breakers U12 Green girls who won the championship of the 25th Annual Connecticut Polar Bears Holiday Tournament for the U12AA Division. This tournament is the largest girls hockey tournament in North America and features teams from all over the United States and Canada. The Breaker girls’ road to the championship consisted of four wins and one tie to a tough Buffalo Bison team.
In the championship game, the Breaker girls beat the East Coast Wizards 4-3 in double overtime. The Breakers never lead in this game until the end and trailed by a goal with two minutes left when Jane Dudley beat the Wizards goalie to the short-side roof to send the game into overtime. Jane’s goal was the completion of a perfectly executed defensive-zone faceoff won by Marissa Fichter and an excellent outlet pass to the streaking Dudley made by Samantha Davis. Even more gratifying, the championship game was a rematch of the previous year, however, the Bay State Breakers U12 Green girls came out on top of this one.
Samantha Davis was declared the tournament’s MVP by Coach Donato as she completely dominated the tournament from game one and finished the tournament with the game winning goal. Marissa Fichter wasn’t far behind by defensively dominating every opponent’s top player. This tournament, however, was won by a complete team effort including tremendous goaltending and outstanding team defense.
Congratulations girls! You have set a very high standard for the future Breaker girls.
